Itinerary – Machu Picchu Day Tour

  • Your day begins with a pickup from your hotel or Airbnb in Cusco between 3:45 and 4:15 AM.
  • Upon arrival at the station, our driver will assist you in boarding your train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu.
  • The train journey lasts approximately 1.5 hours, following the Urubamba River and passing through breathtaking Andean landscapes.
  • Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, your guide will be waiting for you at the train station with a sign with your name.
  • You’ll receive a short briefing for your visit and then have 20–30 minutes of free time to use the restroom, grab a coffee, or pick up some snacks before heading up to the site.
  • You{ll take the 30-minute bus ride up the winding mountain road to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
  • Estimated arrival at the site is between 9:00 and 10:00 AM, depending on your train time and bus queue.
  • Enjoy a 2.5-hour guided tour led by a licensed, knowledgeable guide who will walk you through the history, architecture, and hidden stories of this ancient Inca wonder.
  • You’ll visit temples, ceremonial areas, terraces, and viewpoints, with time for photos and reflection.
  • After your visit, take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes

DAY 01: FROM CUSCO TO AGUAS CALIENTES VIA OLLANTAYTAMBO

Embark on an unforgettable journey starting with a 10:00 AM pickup from your hotel. Begin your adventure with a comfortable and scenic 1 hour and 45-minute transfer to the historic Ollantaytambo train station, where you’ll experience the beauty of the Sacred Valley along the way. At 12:55 PM, board the train to Aguas Calientes and enjoy a relaxing 1.5-hour ride through stunning landscapes, passing lush valleys, rivers, and the majestic Andean mountains.

Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes, check in at your comfortable hotel, where you’ll have some time to relax and soak in the peaceful atmosphere of this charming town, nestled at the foot of Machu Picchu.

Later, at around 7:00 PM, meet with your guide for an informative briefing, where you’ll discuss the exciting details of the next day’s adventure to Machu Picchu. This is your opportunity to get all your questions answered and prepare for an unforgettable experience.

DAY 02: EXPLORING THE LOST CITY: MACHU PICCHU TO CUSCO VIA AGUAS CALIENTES

On the second day, you’ll have the chance to experience the breathtaking sunrise over Machu Picchu, weather permitting, and enjoy the site with fewer visitors. Begin your day with an early 5:00 AM breakfast at your hotel, then take a 30-minute bus ride from Aguas Calientes to the main entrance of Machu Picchu. The gates open at 6:00 AM, and once inside, you’ll meet your guide for a 2.5-hour guided tour, immersing yourself in the fascinating history and significance of this iconic Inca citadel.

After the tour, you can choose to hike Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for a unique perspective of the site. Remember, these climbs require tickets, so be sure to book them well in advance. If you prefer, you can also spend more time exploring the site on your own before taking the bus back down to Aguas Calientes for some leisure time in the town.

Later, board the train at 2:55 PM for a 1.5-hour ride back to Ollantaytambo, where a private car will be waiting to transport you back to Cusco. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel, wrapping up this unforgettable journey.

DAY 01: EXPLORING  THE SACRED VALLEY AND TRAIN JOURNEY TO MACHU PICCHU

Start of the Day and Transport from the Hotel:

  • Pickup at your hotel  scheduled between 6:30 to 7:00 AM.
  • Transfer by car to the town of Chinchero from Cusco, approximately a 45-minute journey.

Visit Chinchero:

  • Exploration of the Inca archaeological site and the colonial temple of Chinchero with a guide.
  • Opportunity to visit a local craft center to learn about textile and weaving typical of the Cusco region, explained by the artisans themselves.
  • Then, the tour continues to the next site, Moray.

Tour to the Archaeological Site of Moray:

  • Visit to the famous Inca circular terraces, unique of their kind.
  • Guide’s explanation and free time for exploration and photography.

Visit to the Maras Salt Mines:

45-minute transfer by car from Moray to the salt mines.
Time to receive information from the guide, explore the area, and take photos. Opportunity to buy interesting salt-made souvenirs before continuing to lunch in Urubamba.

Lunch in Urubamba:

  • Stop at a local restaurant to enjoy a buffet lunch included in the tour, with various dishes to taste at your discretion, as well as vegetarian and vegan options.
  • Approximate lunchtime: 1:00 PM. After lunch, the journey continues to Ollantaytambo.

Visit to Ollantaytambo:

  • Journey to the largest archaeological site in the Sacred Valley, Ollantaytambo, a 30-minute trip from Urubamba.
  • Guided tour in Ollantaytambo followed by a transfer to the Ollantaytambo train station to travel to Aguas Calientes.

Train Journey to Aguas Calientes:

  • Departure from the Ollantaytambo station around 3:30 PM or 4:30 PM.
  • Train journey duration: Approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Arrival in Aguas Calientes:

  • Reception by hotel personnel, who will wait for you with your names at the train station to take you to the hotel.

Preparation for the Next Day:

  • Time to rest and relax in the hotel.
  • At 7:30 PM, the guide will meet with you in the hotel to coordinate the details of the next day’s tour in Machu Picchu.

DAY 02: GUIDED TOUR IN MACHU PICCHU AND RETURN TO CUSCO

Start of the Day and Breakfast at the Hotel:

  • Wake up early for breakfast at the hotel, around 5:00 AM, before heading to the bus station.

Bus Transfer to Machu Picchu:

  • Proceed to the bus station to catch the bus at 5:30 AM towards the main entrance of Machu Picchu. The bus journey takes about 25 minutes.

Entry and Exploration of Machu Picchu:

  • Enter the Inca citadel with the group and the guide around 6 am.
  • First, head to the high part to get the classic view of Machu Picchu.
  • Spend time at the classic viewpoint for photos and to enjoy the views, with the chance to witness the sunrise if the weather is good.

Guided Tour inside the Citadel:

  • A guided tour within Machu Picchu, lasting approximately 2.5 hours.
  • The guide will provide detailed explanations about the history and features of Machu Picchu.

Free Time for Personal Exploration:

  • After the guided tour, there are about 30 additional minutes to explore the remaining parts of Machu Picchu within the circuit.
  • Remember that the maximum allowed visit time at Machu Picchu is 3 hours in total, according to the park’s regulations.

Return Bus to Aguas Calientes:

  • Depart Machu Picchu to take the return bus to Aguas Calientes, which is a 25-minute journey.

Option to Visit Waynapicchu or Machu Picchu Mountain:

  • If you have reserved additional tickets for Waynapicchu or Montaña Machupicchu, you will have time for these extra hikes. Tickets should be booked in advance and can be arranged through us to match the corresponding schedule.

Free Time in Aguas Calientes:

  • After activities in Machu Picchu, return to Aguas Calientes by bus.
  • Free time to explore the town, possibly have lunch.

Train Journey from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo:

  • Departure from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo at 2:30 PM or 3:20 PM. The train journey lasts approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Transfer to Cusco:

  • Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo station, you will be greeted by our personnel, who will be waiting with your name.
  • Transfer by car from Ollantaytambo to Cusco, a journey of approximately 2 hours.
  • Arrival in Cusco around 6:30 PM.

Itinerary – Heart Journey Peru

DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN CUSCO

  • We will be picked up at the airport, taken to the hotel
  • Evening at leisure

DAY 02: DAY 2 TOUR TO KORICANCHA & SACSAYHUAMAN AND WALK AROUND THE CITY IN THE AFTERNOON

  • 8:30 we will be picked up to begin our trip, we will visit Koricancha (Temple of the Sun), the archaeological park Sacsayhuaman (about 2 hours) and other interesting places in Cusco. After the guided tour we will have a welcome lunch and then a city walk for those who want.

DAY 03: SACRED VALLEY AND TO MACHU PICCHU

  • 06:30 our tour begins
  • 07:15 We arrive in Chinchero where we visit the archaeological park and a collective of weavers who still apply ancient techniques for dyeing and weaving.
  • 9:30 We arrive in Moray where we will learn how the Incas experimented with different plants to make them adapt to the colder mountain climate
  • 10:30 We stop to learn all about products from the salt mines in Maras, where we will be invited to taste both salt and chocolate from the region.
  • 11:00 We arrive at the Salt Mines in Maras, where the population has used salt since at least 800 BC and today the salt is exported around the world. We will see how the salt is extracted completely manually without the help of machines.
  • At 12:00 we stop in Urubamba for a lunch buffet with delicious Andean dishes, there is something for everyone regardless of allergies and preferences.
  • After lunch we continue the journey for about 30 minutes before arriving in Ollantaytambo where we will have a guided walking tour of one of Cusco’s most important Inca ruins.
  • 15:00 we continue to the train station in Ollantaytambo
  • 15:37 the train departs for Aguas Calientes
  • 17:20 we arrive in Aguas Calientes where the hotel staff is waiting for us at the station.
  • If you want more time in Ollantaytambo we can change the train for one that leaves at 19:00
  • You can leave the large suitcases at the hotel in Cusco and only bring the essentials with you as there is limited space on the train.
  • There are hot springs in Aguas Calientes, if you want to visit these remember to bring your swimsuit. The entrance fee is 20 soles, 6 USD).
  • You need to bring your passport for this tour. It can be good to always have it with you.

DAY 04: MACHU PICCHU, BACK TO THE SACRED VALLEY

  • Today we delight all the senses by visiting Machu Picchu, an old administrative center from the Inca era that for unknown reasons was abandoned by its inhabitants and fell into oblivion until 1904.
  • In the evening we take the train back to Ollantaytambo.
  • 06:30 we take the bus to Machu Picchu, the journey takes about 25 minutes. Our guided tour will take about 2.5 hours. After the tour we take the bus down to Aguas Calientes where we have lunch and have time to buy souvenirs.
  • 14:55 the train departs for Ollantaytambo.
  • From Ollantaytambo we take our bus to our hotel in Yanahuara
  • Today dinner is included

DAY 05: ANCIENT ANDEAN CEREMONY

Purification/healing/gift of gratitude/wisdom/contact with nature

CEREMONY:

  • Andean priest “PACO”
  • Saminchay (Spiritual purification)
  • Gift of gratitude to Pacha Mama (Mother Earth)
  • Spiritual connection
  • “Baño de florecimiento” we end the ceremony with a traditional purification where you use flower petals that you “bath in”
  • Approximately 5 hours in total

DAY 06: PISAQ

  • We start our tour at 9:00 and take our bus through the Sacred Valley where we visit the archaeological remains of Pisaq and then have some free time in the village where we can discover all the small shops and cafes on our own before we drive back to Cusco.
  • Free afternoon.
  • At 8:00 pm we are picked up for the drive to Copacabana in Bolivia, the night bus has comfortable seats that can be reclined 160 degrees and which gives us a good night’s sleep.

DAY 07: LAKE TITICACA

  • At 07:00 we arrive at the Bolivian border, after crossing the border we drive to the small town of Copacabana where we leave our luggage at the hotel and have breakfast before the boat departs at 10.
  • We spend half the day out on the lake visiting two different islands: Sun and Moon Islands, it is said that the Incas originated from these islands. On Moon Island we will feel strong feminine vibrations, while Sun Island shows us its masculine side.
  • Back in Copacabana we have a late lunch together.
  • Free evening which is best spent meditating and reflecting on our impressions for today.

DAY 8: ARAMU MURU + SILLUSTANI

  • 08:30 We leave Copacabana for the journey back to Peru, after crossing the border we drive approx. 1 hour to arrive at Aramu Muru – Gate of the Gods, where we will have a meditation in silence and take in the power of the place before continuing to Sillustani for a guided tour.
  • Free evening in Puno

DAY 09: Puno – Lima

  • The morning involved a visit to the Uros people who live on stilts out in Lake Titicaca.
  • 3 hours before our flight we travel to the airport in Juliaca which takes about 45 minutes

DAY 10: Pachacamac Temple

The name means “soul of the earth” and this was one of the most important sites on the coast. It was believed that the god Pachacamac could predict the future and also control the movement of the earth. This temple was built sometime between 200 BC and 200 AD and has belonged to several different cultures such as the Lima, Wari and Inca.

DAY 11: Free day before flying back home

  • Free morning. Here we can stroll around the Miraflores area, maybe visit the Indian market, the archaeological remains of Huaca Pucllana or even go down to the sea for a quiet meditation.
  • About 4 hours before the flight leaves we will be picked up for transport to the airport.

Itinerary – Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain

  • We’ll start the day by picking you up from your hotel in Cusco between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m
  • After a couple of hours on the road, we’ll stop in the charming town of Cusipata to enjoy breakfast at a local restaurant.
  • Enjoy breathtaking views during a scenic drive through valleys and mountain landscapes as we make our way to the Palcoyo trailhead, this drive will take us around 1.5 hours.
  • Upon arrival, embark on a gentle 1.5 to 2-hour guided hike through Palcoyo’s colorful mountain range. You’ll explore the stunning rainbow-striped landscapes, the Stone Forest, and surrounding viewpoints—with plenty of time for photos and explanations from your guide.
  • After the hike, we’ll return to Cusipata for a buffet lunch featuring Peruvian dishes with options for vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free diets.

Itinerary – Humantay Lake

  • We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco between 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m
  • We begin our journey to the small town of Mollepata, located in the province of Anta. The drive takes approximately 2.5 hours.
  • In Mollepata we will have breakfast at a local restaurant
  • After breakfast, we’ll continue for about 1 hour to Soraypampa (3,900 m), the starting point of our hike to Humantay Lake.
  • We begin our 1.5 to 2-hour hike up to Humantay Lake, reaching an altitude of 4,200 meters (13,780 feet). The trail offers stunning views of snow-capped mountains and the dramatic Andean landscape.
  • Once at Humantay Lake, you’ll have time to relax, explore, and take in the crystal-clear, turquoise waters set against the majestic backdrop of the Salkantay and Humantay peaks.
  • After enjoying the lake, we’ll begin our descent, which takes approximately 1.5 hours.
  • We’ll return to Mollepata for a buffet lunch at a local restaurant
  • After lunch, we’ll head back to Cusco. The drive takes about 3 hours, and we aim to arrive between 6:30 and 6:00 p.m., with the final drop-off near the Plaza de Armas.

Itinerary – Cusco City Tour

  • You can choose a morning start at 9:00 AM or an afternoon tour that starts at 1:00 PM, we meet at the entrance to Koricancha
  • First stop is The Temple of the Sun – Koricancha where you will get a 1 hour long guiding through Inca and Colonial architecture and history.
  • We then take our bus up to Sacsayhuaman were  we admire the impressive Inca stonework.
  • At Qenqo we explore the narrow zig-zag passages and the ritual chambers as well as the big sun dial.
  • Discover Tambomachay and Puca Pucara: Visit the ceremonial fountains at Tambomachay, a place of relaxation for Inca royalty, followed by Puca Pucara, the iconic Red Fortress used as a checkpoint.
  • We return to Cusco around 2:00 PM or 6:00 PM if you choose the late start.

Itinerary – Sacred Valley of the Incas

The tour begins at 06:45 at Plaza Regocijo near the Main Square.

Our first stop is Chinchero, about 45 minutes from Cusco. Here your guide will take you through Inca archaeological remains, a colonial church, and a traditional weaving demonstration by a local family, where you will learn how natural dyes and Andean weaving techniques are used.

We then head to Moray, known for its impressive circular agricultural terraces. You will learn how the Incas used these structures as an agricultural laboratory and have time to take photos and explore the site.

A short drive takes us to Maras, where you will visit the famous salt mines that are still in use today. Learn about the salt extraction process, admire the unique landscape, and stop at one of the small shops where we will have a demonstration of their products along with a salt and chocolate tasting with as many free samples as you like.

The next stop is the charming town of Urubamba where a typical Andean buffet lunch awaits us. This buffet offers options for all dietary needs.

After lunch we head to Ollantaytambo, known as the last living Inca town, where we explore the water temples, the Temple of the Sun, and the impressive terraces.

We finish in Ollantaytambo around 15:00. You may choose to end your tour here and take the train to Machu Picchu.

The final stop on our tour is the archaeological site of Pisac, where we can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views and the beautiful agricultural terraces.

After Pisac we begin our return drive to Cusco, arriving around 18:30–19:00.

Itinerary – Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain + Red Valley

  • We will pick you up from your hotel between 4:30-5:00 AM
  • Departure to the village of Cusipata, a 2 hour drive through the southern valley of Cusco.
  • Upon arrival in Cusipata we enjoy a small buffet breakfast at a local restaurant.
  • After breakfast we start our journey up a winding road for an hour before reaching our starting point.
  • The hike begins at 4,700 meters and ascends gradually to the summit at 5,100 meters. The trek takes approximately 1 hour and rewards you with panoramic views of the stunning Rainbow Mountain. At the top, you’ll have time to take photos, enjoy the scenery, learn from your guide, and connect with the local culture.
  • After visiting Rainbow Mountain, you may choose to hike to the Red Valley, a breathtaking extension of the tour. The entrance fee is 20 soles, and the hike takes 1 hour . Alternatively, you can return via the original path which takes same time.
  • After the hike we´ll return to Cusipata for a buffet lunch.
  • After lunch we begin the drive back to Cusco where we expect to arrive between 4:30-5:00 PM, we will drop you off close to the main square.
